  • 12 oz pitted prunes
  • 1 lb brown sugar
  • 2 tbps li hing powder
  • 2 tbps Hawaiian salt
  • 1 tbps Chinese 5-spice powder
  • 8 cloves star anise
  • 3 tbsp whiskey
  • 2 cups fresh lemon juice

Method Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except prunes and apricots in a small bowl. Mix until everything is well combined.
  2. Pour the mixture over prunes and apricots.
  3. Allow to sit for at least 3-4 days mixing it ta least once daily.
  4. Enjoy your prune mui.
