Prune Mui
Prune mui (or “mui” for short) is a type of Chinese dried fruit that has been pickled, sun-dried and preserved. It is most commonly made with plums, though other fruits such as apricots and dates can also be used.
Prune mui is a popular ingredient in Chinese cooking, as it adds a unique sweet-tarts flavor to dishes. The tartness comes from the pickling process, which makes the fruit soft and chewy.
Prune mui can be eaten as a snack or used to add flavor to soups, stews and stir-fries.
